What is the education sector for the year 2019 budget?


In the budget of 2018-19, Rs 83,626 crore was allocated, out of which Rs 3,411 crore was not spent. For the year 2019-20, allocation has been allocated Rs 93,848 crore, which is 3.3 per cent of the total budget expenditure. This amount is more than Rs. 10,000 crores as compared to the previous budget.


There was no major announcement for the education sector in the budget speech of the year 2019. Before the budget was presented, many reports were published regarding the expectations of increasing the allocated amount in the education sector. 


In the budget of 2019-20, an allocation of Rs 38,572 crore has been allocated for the National Education Mission.

Increase in the allocated amount for ICDS

Simultaneously allocation for Integrated Child Development Scheme has been increased by about 18% and an allocation of Rs. 27,500 crores has been made. Its positive effect is expected to fall pre-primary education.

Reduction in Higher Education Budget

This time, the amount allocated for higher education has been cut by 650 crores. In the year 2018-19 last year, Rs 2750 crores had been allocated for higher education, the amount allocated in 2019-20 has been reduced to Rs 2100 crores.
